A majority of URISA members work for a government agency - from rural towns and urban counties to tribal, state/provincial, and federal government. A government agency membership offers an opportunity for multiple individuals to participate as members while taking advantage of cost savings and efficiencies. The all-inclusive membership is designed specifically for jurisdictions with at least two GIS staff, whether in the same department or across a number of departments (i.e. assessor’s office, public health, planning).
The price for a Government Agency membership is $350 and includes membership for two individual members. (Dues for two individual members from one jurisdiction would otherwise cost $390 or $195 each). Additional members may be added at a reduced fee.
Government Agency members may post unlimited job postings (usually $300 each) and also take advantage of an annual license for a URISA Certified Workshop for $250 (regularly priced at $1,000) to efficiently conduct on-site training (instructor,
facility and material expenses not included). Perhaps your team would benefit from a full-day workshop covering GIS Strategic Planning or a half-day workshop on Emergency Preparedness for GIS?
"“When I joined the County of Los Angeles as GIO one of the first things I did was recommend we join URISA as a Government Agency Member. The impact and value was immediate, GIS staff have participated in the GIS Leadership Academies, our URISA State Chapter Conference, CalGIS, and the URISA Intl. conference GIS-Pro. Membership provides our team valuable opportunities to learn, share and connect with counterparts building important relationships in their own areas of responsibility. We find that leveraging the URISA network enhances our own work in everything from data infrastructure, addressing, to emerging tools and much more.” - Steven J. Steinberg, Ph.D., MPA, GISP, Geospatial Information Officer (GIO), County of Los Angeles, California
