Because of the group's substantial activity, the Board agreed to 'elevate' the task force to a committee, renamed to the Location, Enterprise Addressing & Public Safety Committee in 2024. PRODUCT ANNOUNCEMENTURISA and NSGIC are happy to announce the release of GIS is Critical for Next Generation 9-1-1. This fact sheet meets a need identified by many GIS professionals: effectively communicating how 9-1-1 works, how Next Generation 9-1-1 is different, and the important role of GIS in Next Generation 9-1-1 to policy makers and elected officials. Rather than answering all of the questions, GIS is Critical for Next Generation 9-1-1 opens the door to continued conversation about Next Generation 9-1-1 GIS efforts in a particular state, region, or locale. CONFERENCE ANNOUNCEMENTFifth Annual Virtual LEAP Conference to collaborate on Location, Enterprise Addressing, and Public Safety (LEAP) will take place early in 2026.
