Storytelling for GIS failure in software or impetus for change in thinking.
As I continued reading I caught myself thinking about the following two questions
1) Can (GIS) data visualization tools (ArcGIS) be limiting your ability to communicate the data story?!
2) How do we implement the graph/ data visualizations on dashboards... Some examples are overly dashboards heavy... How do we better combine the data visualization and the story?!
Because what I'm experiencing is that, Geospatial Analysis can do so much but is also doing too much. If we can't pick or have a concrete answer for who our audience is... How can we provide situational context?
In my number of years of experience I have learned how much geospatial professionals could benefit from "project management skills " generally. Not only in Project based workflow, but program management. Which could help with our overall justifications. For funding, for staff etc. We would not need to necessarily perform ROI on the back end rather make it important of project establishment.
What do you think?
